Whether you are a sports enthusiast - snow skiing, water skiing, fishing, biking, hiking, swimming, kayaking, ATVing - or prefer the quiet of the forest while you read, nap, watch the deer or sip wine watching the sunset - you will fall in love with it here, too! Along the Hwy 50 corridor, from Placerville to Camino and Pollock Pines, you will find a slower pace and way of life. Each area is unique and worth exploring, especially if you plan on relocating here. Placerville has rural outlying areas, but also offers most fast food establishments and retailers like Office Max, Big 5 Sporting Goods and Walmart. Camino is a rich agricultural area - apples, grapes and Christmas trees - and a quaint "downtown." Pollock Pines is a small family-oriented community in the pines and home to commuters, vacation home owners and retirees. It boasts beautiful Jenkinson Lake and Forebay Reservoir, as well as Safeway, Longs and a variety of restaurants . At 4000' elevation, it is an hour from Sacramento, 30 minutes to great skiing and 45 minutes to Lake Tahoe.
